Welcome to today's Academy session! We're going to discuss a new feature that we released last week called custom email templates. This exciting feature allows you to personalize the emails sent to your users based on their actions and language preferences.
To access this feature, simply go to Marketing and click on Email Templates. Here, you'll find a list of various events that will trigger an email to be sent to users when they interact with your web platform. Examples of these events include subscribing, creating an account, or canceling a subscription.
Before, all of the emails were default templates and only available in English. But now, you can edit these emails per platform and even create templates in different languages!
To edit a specific email template, select the desired template from the list. For instance, if you want to edit the English version of the invitation email, click on it.
In the Edit Email Template mode, you'll find the name of the email template, the subject line, and an editor to customize the content of the email. There are also different variables you can use when creating these emails, such as {{ platform_name }}
, allowing you to personalize your emails even further.
The editor offers various tools to help you create visually engaging and well-written emails. Some features include:
To make sure your emails look great, use the Preview feature to see how your email will appear on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices before saving.
If your platform supports multiple languages, you can create email templates in those languages as well. When a user with a specific language preference interacts with your platform, they will receive an email in their preferred language, if available.
If a user's selected language isn't present or is disabled, they will receive the default language template. If you wish to disable a specific language template, simply click on the "Disable" button for that language.
There are multiple types of emails that you can customize using email templates:
To enhance your emails further, you can use different variables depending on the email template you're editing. To do so, start typing within double curly braces, like {{ variable_name }}
, or select a variable from the dropdown menu.
For example, if you're customizing the Subscription Started email, you may want to use variables like {{ subscription_name }}
, {{ payment_amount }}
, and {{ currency }}
. These variables will be automatically updated with the relevant information when the user receives the email.
